AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT A PUBLIC UTILITY SHALL PAY AN AD VALOREM TAX ASSESSED OR LEVIED WHILE SUCH ASSESSMENT OR LEVY IS APPEALED; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. If a public utility appeals the assessment or levy of an ad valorem tax, the public utility shall pay the tax under protest and sue for recovery of the protested portion of the tax paid.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 1999.
